Simple Flat Silver ring, set with 5mm round cut Garnet of the wine-red Almandine variety.
The ring is completely handmade, in Kathmandu Valley, in the 1990s about a quarter century ago. Kathmandu and its environs is known for a high quality of metal craftsmanship, be it in jewellery or bronze castings.
While this ring can be re-sized, the cost of doing so in Sydney would amount to almost two-thirds the price of the ring itself, bringing the total cost up to around $100. Against this, it must be realized that were this same ring to be crafted in Sydney, or anywhere in the western world, its cost would be approx $150.
