Six Zambian Emeralds set in a 9ct Gold ring pierced in a flowing tendril design.
Zambia is a landlocked southern Africa state, Congo north, Angola west, Zimbabwe south, Malawi and Mozambique east. Emerald deposits were discovered in the 1950s in a minerals-rich northern province bordering the DRC (Congo), and Zambian Emeralds became a major component in the world Emerald trade, for reliability and quality. The six Zambian Emeralds in the above ring are natural, of very good clearly vivid green, and well-matched in colour, cut and size, all 1.75mm round cut.
The ring setting for this fine set of Zambian Emeralds created and crafted in Sydney, the gemstones bezel-set by a master Sydney gemstone setter.
The inspiration behind the pierced tendril motif of the 9ct Gold band was Victorian English, in the form of a 9ct Gold ring of the late 1800s, a band without any gemstone settings. The six gemstone settings were added to the design in Sydney, for a set of 1.7mm to 1.75mm round gemstones, nicely suited to the 3.5mm width of the band.
Note: the band is quite sturdy, being of a uniform 1.6mm thickness and not being at all hollowed out at the rear. Note also that a plain sizing section had been added to the design.
