Sindh Tribal Silver Rupee coin pendant, George V King & Emperor, King of England, Emperor of India, Silver content 90%+; made to a pendant in early 1900s by Tribals in the Indus River valley.
The 30mm round Silver Rupee was minted by the British in India under tight controls, always 90%+ Silver content, weight always exactly one tolah, an ancient Indian weight standard; it underpinned the British enterprise in India, appreciated as a store of wealth and, by the Tribals of India, as adornment and display of wealth and prestige – multiples of Silver Rupee coin pendants would be worn on twine necklaces.
