42grams Old Silver Salt Shaker, sourced in a curio shop in Jodhpur Rajasthan, west India. Coin Silver content, created from melted down Silver Rupee coins, meaning high Silver content for the Silver Rupee was minted in 91.7% Silver purity, up to well into the 1930s. The above 42grams Old Silver Salt Shaker could have been crafted at any time in the first half of the 1900s. Originally it would have been made with its own little Silver resting bowl, part of the table decor of one of the princely families, major or minor, of Rajasthan.

As of mid-2026, scrap Silver price for the above would fetch just under $140. The asking price on-site represents its scrap price value, plus a very modest increment, plus GST.

The above Salt Shaker, though arguably the antithesis of “Tribal Silver”, sits better in the Tribal Silver segment than in any of the site’s other Silver segments.
Note: the item is 41.8grams in weight, so not quite 42grams.
