The smaller seed Pearls and the larger centre Pearl in the above necklace are freshwater; while they are not rare, they are of good quality and give a lively crispness to the strand. And while Turquoise cannot normally be called rare, when the beads are of such excellent natural untreated Turquoise Blue as the eight used in the above necklace, it is rare. The baker’s dozen of small gem-quality orange-coloured Corals are old handcut beads from Sth India.
The small red and dark blue glass beads are taken from old tribal Nagaland necklaces, originally thick ropes of dozens and dozens of strands of such small beads.
The asymmetry of the bead placement not only adds zest to the strand but makes it totally unique.
