Garnet Multi Facetted set in a handmade Silver ring, the band a uniform 5.8mm width, slightly domed, a uniform 1.5mm thick. The setting for the Garnet is interesting, medieval in look, and creates a proper frame for the fine gemstone.
The above ring was handcrafted in the late 1990s in Kathmandu Valley, a region well-known for a high quality of metal craftsmanship, in jewellery and in bronze castings. It is not uncommon for Japanese temple societies to bring in Kathmandu Valley artisans specifically to create temple bronzes through the lost-wax process.
The nicely cut Garnet set in the above ring is of excellent quality, of the wine-red Almandine variety, of a fine transparency and sharpness of colour now increasingly difficult to source.
