Victorian Gold ring design. The original 9ct Gold ring that inspired the above “Victorian Gold” Sydney-made ring was quite flimsy in construction and set with a damaged White Opal, but the neat pretty working of the split shank, where the band meets the setting, with its bar, curling finials and leaf motif, warranted attention.
In the above Christopher William iteration every element has been strengthened, from the solidity of the band, now a sturdy 1.2mm thick, to the strong wall of the gemstone setting, and even to the matter of the durability of the gemstone itself, for Amethyst is a Quartz gemstone, the benchmark for gemstone hardness, toughness, durability ( any gemstone less hard than Quartz is considered relatively less tough, anything more hard very tough ).
The above “Victorian Gold” ring contains 3.9 grams of solid Sydney-worked 9ct Gold. At current world Gold price, as of September 2025, a formless lump of 9ct Gold weighing 3.9 grams is worth around $260.
The above Amethyst cabochon gemstone is of excellent quality, its lilac/purple a deep saturated colour; there are a few colours our unsophisticated photographic tools have difficulty capturing, and the depth of AGrade Amethyst is one of them. The colour captured in the above images is definitely not as fine as the reality.
