Tribal Ethiopian Silver, on a slim and flexible Silver “rope” chain. The three old talismans are from the Afar region in the north-east of Ethiopia, in the Horn of Africa and on the Red Sea, with Eritrea to the  north. It is a largely pastoral region, noted since at least the Middle Ages as a region producing warriors.
The two flanking talismans are similar to others found in such near neighbours as Yemen, and as far away as India, but the centre piece is a very particular Ethiopian design. All three pieces are old, from the mid 1900s or earlier, all completely handcrafted.
Note the old dark red bead between the two bails of the centre talisman: this old ceramic bead is of the same vintage as the old Silver talismans and was on the string of mostly Silver Ethiopian pieces; it would have originally served a purpose similar to its use here.
