Tribal 1901 Victoria Empress Silver Rupee coin, made to pendant by Rajasthani Tribals in the early 1900s, high Silver content 90%+; to be worn on a twine necklace of as many as a dozen such obviously valuable coins.
Queen Victoria of England was Empress of India; these 30mm round Rupee coins were minted in India by the British under very controlled conditions, the Silver content always 90%+, the weight always exactly one tolah, an ancient Indian weight standard.
These Silver Rupee coins underpinned the British enterprise in India; used as a store of wealth, they were also much appreciated by the Tribals as adornments of prestige, an obvious sign of wealth.
