Superior Coral Antique teardrop. True gemstone Coral has historically been sourced from only a few waterways in the world: the Mediterranean, and in the waters around Japan and Taiwan. Precious Coral has always been much appreciated, for its durability and intense pale pink to deep red colouration, and not only by the peoples around those sources: intense Coral gemstone trade between the Mediterranean of the ancient Romans and the wealthy kingdoms of southern India was carried on two thousand years ago.
Victorian England was captivated by gemstone Coral, particularly as fashioned into necklaces and brooches. The whole gamut of precious Coral colours was employed in Victorian times, but arguably the most favoured of all Coral colours then was the gorgeous saturated salmon orange-pink of the above teardrop.

The above Superior Coral Antique teardrop is on its original Victorian Antique Silver chain. The necklace dates to the late 1800s, perhaps very early 1900s. Originally the necklace had six more precious Coral teardrop pendants, all matched in the same gorgeous orange-pink colour , smaller in size. All six of those smaller Coral teardrops have been removed, two re-created in Sydney as pendants with 18ct Gold, two as eardrops, again in 18ct Gold, all sold, and the last two into another pair of eardrops as yet, as of September 2026, not sold.

The pair of costly Keshi Pearls have been added to the Antique English Silver chain in Sydney.
