Danish 1930s Silver Link Bracelet. 800 was the Danish Silver standard in the late 1800s and early 1900s, denoting 80% Silver purity; 800 Silver standard was prevalent across northern Europe at that time, the only stand-out being the 925 standard of Great Britain. Around 1910 Denmark shifted to 830 Silver standard, denoting 83% Silver purity, and stayed with the 830 mark until just after WW11 when it shifted to Sterling, 925.
The above bracelet is stamped 830S, thus crafted between 1910 and the early 1950s. Stylistically, however, the above bracelet is definitely 1930s/1940s; indeed, stylistically it could have been created any time between 1930 and 1970, for this form of very neatly crafted, articulated Silver bracelet with panels depicting stylized floral motifs was the dominant Silver Scandanavian bracelet type, in a market dominated by the workshops of the Danish Georg Jensen, until in 1969 Georg Jensen hired the Swedish Torun, probably the greatest jewellery innovator and designer of the 20thCentury.
