Amber Centrebead. This bead, 9x7mm dimensions, was originally one of the smaller beads in an English Victorian graduated bead strand, all of the same opaque yellow colour, all of the same ovoid cut. This yellow colour was one of the two favourite Baltic Amber colours for the Victorians, the other being the more normal “honey” colour.
This vivid yellow Amber centrbead makes a fine focus point for an oddball mix of gemstones and rare old tribal glass, with bright blue Turquoise heishi beads, some natural Seed Pearls and four approx 4.5mm round orange-red gemstone Corals amidst the rare Naga red glass and the excavated Java blue glass.
Created in Sydney, professionally strung in Sydney on silk, knotted here and there throughout.
Note: just for another slightly odd touch to this one-off “oddball” bead necklace, the Amber centrebead is flanked with two beads of London-made 2.6mm round 9ct Gold.
