8x6mm Bright Emerald (exactly, 7.8mm x 6mm), in a pendant of simple classical form, created in Sydney in solid 18ct Gold.
Emerald nowadays is mined in a number of places but in the ancient world of the Romans virtually the sole source was Egypt, and that remained so until large deposits of the rare green gemstone were found in South America in the 1500s/1600s, particularly in Columbia. Columbia is still probably the largest producer world-wide of Emerald, but mines in Africa are now the source of much of the world supply of the precious gemstone.
The above 8x6mm Bright Emerald is of Zambia origin. It is heavily included, a distinctive characteristic of the gemstone (so distinctive, in fact, that it could be assumed that an Emerald without inclusions is man-made, synthetic); it is clean-faced and its particular green colour is unmistakably that of a genuine Emerald gemstone.
The four 1pt White Brilliant Diamond highlights around the Emerald are all proper White, all F to G in colour, SI in clarity.
