Turquoise Triangles, excellent sharp blue, with the characteristic matrix inclusions of the mother rock. These Turquoise Triangles are natural, untreated save for a surface waxing.
Turquoise has been a much appreciated gemstone for thousands of years. The Ancient Egyptians commercially mined Turquoise over six thousand years ago, in the Sinai Peninsular region. It was given the name we know, Turquoise, by the ancient Romans, who named it after the lands by which it reached them, Turkeyi. In fact, the gemstone the Romans loved came from far to the east of Turkiye, from the far eastern parts of Persia, not that far from Afghanistan. By Roman times the ancient Sinai source had played out, the current mines of the Americas did not exist, and China was a step by far too far.
Nowadays the international market for Turquoise is dominated by the product of mines in the Americas and China. However, a few thousand years on, the Turquoise mines of eastern Persia are still producing commercial quantities of high-grade Turquoise gemstone and, indeed, often enough of a high blue grade only equalled by a few mines in the United States, and virtually not at all in the product of the mines of China and Tibet.
The above Turquoise Triangles have their source in the ancient mines of eastern Persia, their sharp bright blue natural and of AGrade quality.
