Chinese Silver bracelet, most finely handcrafted, enameled with green and shades of blue, each of the six articulated links centre-set with Chinese Turquoise (China has had working Turquoise mines since antiquity) and Gold-washed.
The above Chinese Silver bracelet was crafted in the 1920s or perhaps a little earlier; created for foreign sale in an entrepot such as Shanghai, it is marked SILVER on the underside of its flat bayonet-type catch.
The craftsmanship involved in this piece is the equal of the best of the jewellery work benches of Victorian England.
The condition of the above Chinese Silver bracelet is excellent; it was not much worn. The original customer would have been English, for this piece was sourced from a Bath-based dealer specializing in antique jewellery not actually crafted in England, jewellery of the continent of Europe, mostly, some American, and occasionally, when the craftsmanship is as fine as that of the above bracelet, from Asia.
Note in the above image gallery the work in the under-carriage of the six links, all most finely hand-worked, all intact. A century on from its making, it is the sort of work that will never be repeated, anywhere.
