Violet Amethyst cabochons of good size at 12mm x 10mm dimensions, allowing full play to the fine quality of the gemstone pair, well-matched in the depth and glow of natural, saturated violet colour. The gemstones are nicely translucent and quite clear, with no eye-visible inclusions, though when held up against light and closely examined, the natural inclusions within the crystal can be observed., and in one drop in particular, a natural colour plane.

The cabochon cut, rounded and not facetted, makes a gemstone less prone to damage, for even with the best of care and attention, the facets of a cut gemstone can be nicked. And also, Amethyst is a hard and durable crystal, and indeed its hardness is a gemstone standard, anything more hard being very durable, anything less hard being more prone to damage.

Note: a little over 2.4 grams of solid 9ct Yellow Gold have been used in the Sydney creation of these earrings, making up a considerable part of the cost.
