$155.00

SOLD. Two colours of Baltic Amber, “butterscotch” and “honey”, inlaid into a well-crafted Silver ring of distinctly contemporary style, created in the 1990s in Warsaw, Poland.
Ring size K to L. Re-sizing is not recommended, for re-sizing requires cutting and re-soldering, which means heat; Silver is an excellent conductor of heat and the heat could be transferred in such intensity as to damage the Amber, which, after all, is an organic gemstone, not a crystal gemstone.

See below for further information on this special ring.

Two Baltic Amber colours, “butterscotch” and “honey”. Yellow Amber is a more rare Amber colour. Amber has always been popular, whatever colour, really, with the possible exception of the transparent green variety from around Jamaica, but yellow butterscotch Amber has become increasingly so over the last 150 years. The Victorian English adored the graduated butterscotch bead necklace, especially with the beads cut in an ovoid shape, and after WW11 a resurgence  of Silver jewellery in the northern states of Europe produced some wonderful handcrafted pendants and rings showcasing the Baltic Sea yellow Amber.
And the butterscotch Amber of the Baltic Sea has travelled better than the region’s other Amber colours, finding favour in North Africa from Morocco to the Yemen, and establishing itself as one of Tibet’s three must-have gemstones (the others being Turquoise and Coral).
Naturally Poland, sitting on the Baltic Sea, has given Amber prominence in its jewellery craftsmanship, and the above stylish ring was created in the 1990s in Warsaw Poland.
