Superior Coral Salmon Pink: gem-quality Coral ranges in colour through all shades of red, from the palest pink to the deepest blood red, but arguably the most beautiful of all gem Coral is the saturated salmon pink of the above example.
This teardrop is old English, origin the Mediterranean Sea, probably cut in Italy for the English market of the late 1800s. Given that it had a Silver post + ring in the top, it might be deduced that this little teardrop was one of a number of similar pendants on a Silver chain.
The Silver post has been carefully removed in Sydney, replaced with 18ct Gold post, cap and ring, and hung from a solid 6mm rondel of 18ct Gold, to create a unique and very sweet precious pendant.
1.3grams of 18ct Gold used in the creation of above pendant; on current mid-2023 Gold price that amounts to approx $130 cost price; add to that the cost of Sydney-handmaking, and add to that the lovely antique Coral teardrop. This is a costly beautiful pendant of the finest precious stuff.
