Opaque Faceted Ruby. Ruby is a gemstone with a particular crystalline structure that makes it one of the heavier gemstones, and also one of the very toughest. Almost all Ruby gemstone material is included, meaning that it will contain “impurities”, inclusions that are not specifically Ruby, but most Ruby gemstones on the market are translucent, i.e. relatively free of inclusions.
The above Opaque Ruby is so dense with inclusions that it lacks all transparency. It is, therefore, not a costly gemstone, but it is an interesting gemstone, for it is genuinely Ruby in crystalline structure, and therefore seriously tough; and it has an interesting reddish colour: and its Silver setting has been especially handmade for it in Sydney; and it has been professionally set in Sydney by a master gemstone setter.
