Neat 9ctGold Pendant, with all sorts of interesting details, like the scalloped edging and the twist-wire surround of the gemstone-set face, and the five little Gold balls that the gemstone-setter has used to fix the Brilliant White Diamond in place within its star.
The pendant design is a faithful Sydney-crafted reproduction of a mid-1800s English tie-pin top, which was also set with a little Diamond, but a Diamond in the old cut of the period, with much less sparkle.
The Diamond bead-set in the above Neat 9ctGold pendant is cut in the modern Round Brilliant cut, and though, at 1.7mm across, it is a small Diamond, still it conforms to the specifications and proportions of the Round Brilliant cut, with a particular number of facets and a particular arrangement of those facets in relation to each other. This modern cut was not properly standard until the 1950s, and is now considered the best cut for producing the greatest sparkle.
The imported Italian 9ct Gold sturdy “cable” chain in the above images is 45cms length and weighs 2.8 grams. At current (March 2025) world Gold prices, that 2.8 grams of solid 9ct Gold chain adds $450 to the pendant cost. The cost of such 9ct Gold chain depends entirely upon the weight; a 1gram 9ct Gold chain, for example, will cost around $160, including G.S.T.
