Diamonds Pave-set in an elegant little pendant crafted in Sydney in solid 18ct White Gold.
There are nine fine proper white brilliant small Diamonds set in the centre diamond shape. The Sydney professional gemstone setter, presented with the completely plain unworked surface face of the pendant, first scorps out the frame borders of the diamond shape, then cuts out the holes in which the little diamonds will sit. Each Diamond is seated in its space and fixed in place by the gemsetter digging up small granules of Gold and pushing them -at least three such granules- over the outside girdle of the Diamond.
The end result of this sort of work is a tightly massed surface of glitter, for light not only catches the Diamond surfaces, but also catches all the tiny rounded granules of Gold that hold the Diamonds fast.
Pave, with an inflection on the “e” (pronounced “parvay”), is the French word for paved, given by the European master jewellers of the 1800s who perfected the style.
