Danish 1950s Silver Link Bracelet. The clasp hook is stamped on the underside “STERLING DENMARK”. “Sterling” refers to 925 Silver, 925 parts Silver in 1000 parts. 925 Silver in Silver jewellery and objects only became common in Denmark post WW11. Prior to that, from around 1910, the Silver standard was 830, and prior to that again, it was 800, as it was in most of Northern Europe at the time, and as it remained in Germany until after the War.
The vine leaf and tendril design of the above bracelet is a recurring theme in Danish jewellery of the mid 1900s, but typically in the clean, pared down form as above, modern, muscular, and slightly voluptuous.
The clasp is a simple hook, also pared down in form, also modern; it integrates nicely with the whole piece, works very well, simple, clever.
This sort of finely crafted period Silver jewellery item is becoming scarce; the above bracelet now costs almost 40% more than a similar item, in similarly good condition, did pre-Covid.
