This is one of the very many designs created by Nelson Dawson, one of the founders of the English Arts’n’Crafts movement, a movement with handcrafted at its heart, a movement of the late 1800s of England attempting to posit an artistically satisfying antidote to mass production. The movement spawned a truly great and vibrant flow of design ideas that continues to ripple into the present.
This Dawson chain link must be crafted by hand, for no machined work could handle the delicacy required. No bench jeweller in Australia would attempt to create this sort of work, not this fine, and certainly not in Silver.
