Antique Austro-Hungarian Silver pendant, pre-WW1, neat and handcrafted, compact; much of the jewellery of that region and period was ornate, even rococo.
The twenty gemstones in the above pendant consist of pink Garnets (Rhodolite) and natural Pearl, both semi-precious gemstones but both relatively costly gemstones, then and now. The natural Pearls are not man-made “cultured” Pearls, for the techniques in the creation of “cultured” Pearls were not honed till well into the mid-1900s; they were rare then, and costly, and still are.
The 42cms Silver foxtail chain, with its old style barrel clasp, is probably not the original chain for this pendant, but it is of the same period and works well.
