Amber Old English Necklace, Baltic Butterscotch. Uniform size and cut, in the opaque yellow or butterscotch colour favoured in the late Victorian period. Usually, however, in the late 1800s, bead necklaces of this type of opaque butterscotch Baltic Amber were graduated, and the beads cut in a quite distinct ovoid shape. The cut of the beads in the above strand, while definitely not round, is not of the more traditional shape.
This strand probably comes out of the early 1900s. Purchased early 2023 in south England and professionally restrung in Sydney, with 9ct Gold end ring and spring clasp.
