8mm AGrade Cabochon Garnet, Rose Gold pendant. Garnet is a complex crystal family, and depending on the variety, the trace elements in the crystal mix, can be found in greens, pinks, bright orange etc. The wine red of the above 8mm AGrade Cabochon Garnet is the typical colour of the Almandine variety of Garnet. This Almandine Garnet is and always has been the best known and most popular of all Garnets, but nowadays it has become difficult to source the lovely translucent wine red seen in the above gemstone, present day offerings tending usually to the murkier, and a more orange hue.
The above cabochon cut Garnet is from a quite old gemstone stock holding, going back to the 1980s, when this sort of AGrade quality was considered normal.
The pendant setting design, with its well-defined rim around the setting edge, while created and crafted in Sydney, is of a truly ancient form, dating back at least to Ancient Rome. It is classical.
The 2.2grams of solid 9ct Rose Gold content in the above pendant is responsible for well over 50% of the end price.
