To have the Gold in the first place for an item such as the above bangle, the bench jeweller must either work with 999 pure 24ct Gold and alloy it down to 18ct Gold, or work with already processed 18ct Gold stockgauge. Given the time/labour involved in alloying 24ct Gold granules to 18ct Gold bar, there is little difference in the cost between the two methods.
