7mm Lapis Lazuli round-cut beads, origin the ancient source of this fabled blue “rock” gemstone, the harsh mountainous region of far north-east Afghanistan.
These 7mm Lapis Lazuli beads are of excellent natural deep blue, the deep blue colour known as “ultramarine”; Lapis of the above quality, crushed and worked into an oil pigment, produces the most expensive oil paint, used by Tintoretto and Titian, and Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, causing Julius II to complain of its costly use on the ceiling.
