Lapis Blue, Turquoise Blue, Silver earrings. Lapis Lazuli and Turquoise are the only two gemstones classified as rock, neither organic, like Amber and Pearl, or crystalline, like Diamond and Ruby etc etc. Coincidentally, they are both blue gemstones, and their different blue colours are iconic, the blue of Turquoise being synonymous with the blue of the sky, and Lapis Blue being so distinctive in its depth as to have been given its own name: ultramarine.
The origin of the Lapis Lazuli in above eardrops is the ancient source of Afghanistan, Badakhstan far north-east Afghanistan. The origin of the Turquoise is one of the dozen or so still functioning Turquoise mines of Arizona. Both the Turquoise and the Lapis in the above eardrops are natural, untreated.
