Antique 1903 Edwardian Silver Locket. The image in the image gallery of the closed rear of the locket shows the Birmingham 1903 hallmarks, quite worn, for obviously the piece was much appreciated and often worn; in the second last image, of the locket open and showing the gold-gilt interior of the hinged back cover, one sees imprinted again the Birmingham date letter stamp and the Silver stamp of the Lion Passant, much more crisp and clear.
There is a neat articulation in the above Edwardian Locket, between the bow at top and the heart-shaped locket itself. The bow is also stamped with the English Silver standard of the Lion Passant.
The faux Diamonds (handcut glass), in the surround and in the bow, are all original, bead-set; the outside setting edge of the heart-shaped locket is most finely hand-scalloped, a beautiful touch.

English Lockets were created, basically, to carry an image of a loved one on the inside, the image unseen by the public; in the case of the above Antique 1903 Silver Locket, however, the image can be seen if the wearer so wishes, for the flange, once removed, allows the front purplish floral print to be taken out and replaced with the image of the loved one. If the wearer does not wish the image to be shown, then the front floral print can remain in place and the image slotted in behind it, again once the flange is (gently) removed.
