Ancient Egypt Gold Scarab Pendant, designed and crafted in Sydney in solid 18ct Gold.
The three components of the above pendant -scarab, the orb and its boat, representing Sun and/or Moon, and the swivel form of the pendant- were all found in Gold in the Ancient Egypt tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, entombed around 1300 years before the beginning of the Roman Empire, but not all together in the form shown above.
The Scarab of Ancient Egypt was a symbol sacred to the ruling royal family, and was usually inscribed on the rear, in hieroglyphs, with either an invocation or particulars of the wearer. But given that it is a proper swivel pendant, we wanted a symbol on the other side so it presented more interestingly than hieroglyphs when facing out. (And the orb could be rub-set with a bright little Ruby, or Diamond.)
Note the solidity of this pendant, at 7.2 grams of solid 18ct Gold.
