Note the cut-out “V” work around the Emerald gemstone; when presented to the gemstone setter, with the loose Emerald, the face of the round 9ct Gold pendant was plain, with only a hole in the centre for the setter to utilize. The setter has cut out the V’s all round the pendant edge, and at five points around the setting centre area has forced up little granules of Gold and used those granules, or beads, to firmly set the Emerald, pushing them over the girdle of the gemstone.
