Tribal Green Glass & Silver, an old handcrafted matched pair from the Mazar-y-Sharif region of northern Afghanistan, close by the border with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, an area where Afghanistan’s majority Pushtun ethnicity is tempered with strong Turkmeni influences; the above pair could have been crafted in Bukhara.
Originally this pair would have been two of five or six such hanging from a pendant, dating back to the mid-1900s. The handmade Silver ear hooks have simply been added to create eardrops.
Note: the last image above shows the back of one of the drops.
