Solid Curb Link English Antique Silver Albert chain. The bar is stamped with the boxed old English capital “O”, the Birmingham Silver mark for the year 1888; both clasps are also hallmarked, one with date stamp so worn as to be indecipherable, the other with date stamp of Birmingham in year 1905. The bar and virtually all the links are stamped with the Lion Passant, the walking lion, which is the mark of English Silver, denoting it as being 925 Silver content (925 parts Silver out of 1000).
Each of the dozens of curb links carry the stamp of the Lion Passant. These lion walking stamps are very buffed, indicating a fair amount of wear over the 120 years and more since it was handcrafted. The chain is quite robust, in very good condition.
The curb links graduate from 9.5mm width to 6mm width. Its weight is a substantial 61 grams.
