Small Scarab Ring. This Small Scarab is a Christopher William design, 8mm round and though definitely minimalist, unmistakably a take on the Scarab motif. The Scarab is created with, at its rear, a rimmed flat surface, specifically to contain the other Pharaonic motif used here, namely the sacred orb and its vessel, here in this ring executed in 18ct White Gold.
The 18ct Gold Small Scarab is cast in Sydney from the Christopher W. model -interestingly, Scarabs were also cast, presumably by the lost-wax process, in the New Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt, over 1000 years BCE; the 18ct Gold band is Sydney-handmade, again to Christopher William specifications, the band narrowest at the top where it meets the Scarab, and widening around the rear to a generous 3.4mm width, the whole very nicely proportioned.
Note: the above Small Scarab ring is the second such: the first had a small Ceylon Sapphire set in the orb on the rear of the Scarab, the Sapphire gemstone against the skin of the wearer, unseen and known only to the wearer.
