Simple Ring Setting of handcrafted Silver, set with an oval cabochon cut Garnet of particularly good quality.
With the gemstone set along the finger, the flat Silver band curves up to the 9.7mm width of the setting and narrows to a width of 3.5mm at the rear. The band, quite flat, is a uniform 1.25mm thick.
The above Silver and Garnet ring was hand-worked in the late 1990s in Kathmandu Valley, a region known for the fine quality of its metal craftsmanship, in jewellery as much as in bronze castings.
The Garnet cabochon set in the above ring is of the wine-red Almandine variety, and is of an excellent transparency and colour.
