Silver Pectoral pendant, crafted in Sydney from a handcut wax model based on an Ancient Egypt 18th Dynasty pectoral, depicting a Djed Pillar surmounted by a sun disc, the cartouches showing the names of the king, encompassed by the protectively outspread wings of Nephthys and Isis. The original, in an Egyptian museum, is of Gold inlaid with Quartz and glass.
The frame of the above pendant, representing the structure of the king’s temple, is enamelled in red, yellow, green and deep blue, the enamelling also done in Sydney.
The Djed Pillar, symbol of strength and reliability, is one of the most ancient of Ancient Egypt religious icons, and represents the backbone of Osiris.
The Silver bead chain is completely handmade, each of the 49 beads handcrafted, one by one, each with two soldered rings and connected with another soldered link, giving great flexibility. This work was done in Laos in the early 1980s, of Silver content higher than 925 Sterling.
The piece in total, pectoral plus bead chain, weighs 60grams, about equally divided between the pectoral and the bead chain.
