Serious Old Tribal Silver/twine bracelet. Purchased in the Palika Bazar central New Delhi in the 1980s, never worn since then, stored in a safe place. Given the impacted nature of the interior twine of the  bracelet, indicative of considerable wear, its creation dates back to the mid 1900s and possibly earlier. Despite its age and wear, the piece is in remarkably good condition, with no unraveling.
The bracelet origin is Gujerat, west India. Tribal Gujrati Silver is almost always of high Silver content, as the above bracelet is, 90% plus. This is perhaps not surprising for the Gujerat region has always generated great wealth. It has a long coastline onto the Arabian Sea, has always traded with Arabia and Egypt; it played key roles in the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, and is and always was a major agricultural force.
Note: there are 60 beads across the surface of the above bracelet, each one separately handmade to look alike, each twine-threaded into place,to create a dense carpet of twine at least 2mm thick on the inside.
