Peace Symbol of Ancient Egypt, in a unique pendant entirely created in Sydney. The symbol, of a framed bovine topped with wheat sheaf, was one of the many pectoral motifs unearthed in the very late 1800s excavation of the tomb of the Pharoah Tutankhamon, 18th Dynasty, ruling some 1300 years before the Roman Empire.
Some references label it as symbolizing Peace, hence the above “Peace Symbol” tag, but the combination of cow and wheat in the same symbol would point to it being more a symbol of Plenty, though obviously a society experiencing Plenty is more likely to be a society at Peace.
Aside from the conceit of the ancient motif itself, everything to do with the above Peace Symbol pendant is Sydney work, from the faithful reproduction in Silver of the symbol and its enamelling, to the production of the Gold and Silver used, and the neat benchwork of fixing properly and cleanly in place the four elements of the pendant.
Note; this is a very sturdy pendant: the Silver disc is of 1.65mm thickness and the Silver and Enamel symbol itself is 1.75mm thick. The total weight of the pendant is 18 grams.
The rear of the pendant is plain, showing the same hammered surface as the front.
