Handmade Solid Silver Long Link. This is an English Victorian chain design of the late 1800s, the type of chain originally made as a fob-watch chain with bar, securely connecting a gentleman’s precious and costly watch, sitting in the fob pocket of the vest, with a button hole of the vest. It became known as the “Albert” through the consort of Victoria, Prince Albert, popularizing its use.
Any type of Albert chain not made in the basic curb link is called “fancy”, and while the design of the above chain is quite simple, it is still, in the trade, a “fancy” chain.
The above chain is new-made, totally handcrafted, and very sturdy.
Note: the price of the above Handmade Solid Silver chain has been altered to better reflect, as of late 2025, the rising world price of Silver; in the previous twelve months the Silver world price has risen well over 150%. A fact of doing business is the need to have an item priced so that the profit made is a reasonable incentive to replace the item, to order another one, or something fairly similar. Thus business continues.
(Naturally, the abode does not hold if the business is folding or if one simply does not wish to replace the item; however, Christopher William is not closing down, and this excellent type Handmade Solid Silver chain is an item which, if sold, would be replaced if it could be replaced.)
