These Persian seals in earlier times were worked from Cornelian.; working them in “white metal” began only in the early 1900s when northern European laboratories created a durable “white metal” that stayed white and did not discolour; the mix of zinc, aluminum, manganese and copper proved to result in the very best “white metal”.
