The French word for garden, “jardin”, is often used in reference to Emerald, for it tends to have many inclusions and fissures. Clarity, transparency, therefore, is very important in Emeralds, for too much “jardin” can definitely diminish the brightness of the gemstone. And very often a fissure in the structure will be visible on the surface of the gemstone, a fault which at least shows the material to be natural not man-made.
The pair of Emeralds in the above earrings possess clean faces, or surfaces, and are a vibrant green and quite transparent, but good eyes do not need a glass to discern the interior “jardin”, the natural inclusions of natural Emeralds.
