Antique Venetian Glass, in 9ct Gold earrings. This type of iridescent handblown glass bead was a luxury bead product of Venice, no doubt produced on the island of Murano, in the early 1900s. The glittering colours stem from the insertion of pieces of brightly coloured foil in the glass-making process.
These old beads, which twenty-five years ago were relatively easy to source in full or partial strands, are now rare.
The above fine old beads have been neatly created into eardrops in Sydney, using handmade 9ct Gold bead cappings, 9ct Gold securely-wired posts, and handmade 9ct Gold ear hooks. An elegant creation.
