The above 18ct Gold ring was created in Sydney in the 1960s, set with a 5x4mm Emerald baguette of Columbian origin. Emeralds from Columbia are highly valued for the fine, vivid, lively emerald green of the gemstones sourced from the three main deposits in that country; they are also known for often containing such a profusion of inclusions, that the French word for garden, namely “jardin” is applied ton them as a characteristic.
Both the intense colour of the above gemstone and the inclusions of needles and solid and liquid inclusions within it would indicate that it is indeed of Columbian origin.
