1930s Shanghai Floral deign in a Silver pendant created in Sydney, a direct copy of an original 1930s Shanghai earring pendant.
In the late 1970s, early 1980s, China opened up a little to international trade, allowing trade fairs to operate in Shanghai which attracted the attention of European and American traders. There were eye-popping stories at the time of Chinese traders pushing barrow-loads of Silver ornaments into the halls, emptying the loads onto blankets on the floor, lifting the blankets onto tables and simply selling, often at the scrap prices of the day. But obviously, there were often intact, interesting pieces at play.
The original of the above 1930s Silver floral pendant came out of those Shanghai trade fairs of decades ago, in a lot purchased by an Australian trader who later on-sold in Sydney and Melbourne.
