Wireworked Silver Pendant, Coral and Pearl.
Three components: the Wireworked Silver Pendant; the two gemstone Corals: the Keshi Pearl. (And a fourth, counting the Silver chain.)
The Silver pendant is created and crafted by a family of Yemeni jewellers, two members of which visited Sydney once in the 1980s for a Jewellery Fair. All their work had this same structural quality, with open spaces created with neatly worked Silver wire, solidly fixed in place.
Of the three gemstone pendants, two are tubes of gemstone Mediterranean Coral, of fine saturated orange colour, culled from an Egyptian fashion necklace of the 1920s, of flimsy brass floral medallions interspersed with tubular gemstone Corals.
The Keshi Pearl, plump and very baroque, is of a distinctive silvery-grey sheen, indicating Japanese origin. Keshi, a Japanese word meaning “poppy”, is the term used for Pearls that form without a nucleus, so the Pearl is made entirely of nacre, the substance a mollusc secretes to envelope an irritating intrusion into its innards. Due to the end result being entirely nacre, with no artificial nucleus, Keshi Pearls usually have an excellent lustre. (The silver-grey Keshi above does indeed have a very attractive lustre.) A fine Keshi Pearl, plump and of good lustre, is a  costly gemstone.

The fourth component is a slim double-link Silver chain of 51cms length, 6.2 grams, priced at $75. Not included in the above pendant price, it can be added if required.
