Old Uzbek Silver Enamelled earrings, excellent clean work, in very good condition, enamel work in blue and green.
The 18mm wide domed rounds, when purchased in Bukhara by the Afghan trader who sourced the pair, were just the pair of matched rounds, without hooks and with nothing on the five bottom rings of each. The trader believed the pair to have originally been the bottom articulated segments of an ornate eardrop set. The five little pendants hanging from each of the enamelled segments would probably have been Pearl, a very commonly used gemstone in Old Uzbek Silver.

The ten lovely bright little red Garnet drops in the above have been created in Sydney, each Garnet gemstone securely twist-wired in place with Silver posts, all hand-worked.

Bukhara has a long history, dating back millennia. A major city on the Silk Road, it was a centre of learning and culture. Its traditional jewellery tends to be finer in work than that of its neighbours in Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, decorative, a little formal, even, but not overly elaborate. The above enamelled pair is a good example of fine Uzbekistan jewellery work.
