Garnet Deep Red, Almandine-type variety characteristically wine-red in colour, gemstone origin India, very good colour, excellent translucency.
Garnet is a complex crystalline family, in that there are a number of types of basically the same crystalline structure possessing different elements producing very different colours: Rhodolite, e.g. is pinkish; Grossular, cinnamon brown; Spessartite, yellow; Uvarovite, sharp green; and Almandine, wine-red.
Of all the Garnet varieties, the Almandine “Garnet Deep Red” of the above has always been the most favoured. It was extensively traded from India and Ceylon to Ancient Rome, and later, to the Anglo-Saxons.
The Silver ring setting, though modeled on an English ring of the 1940s, is created and crafted in Sydney, the gemstone Garnet professionally set in Sydney.
