Vintage Danish Silver. The 830 Silver mark on the rear of the gemstone setting indicates that the purity of the Silver used in the making of this ring is 83%. 830 was the Silver standard of Germany, Norway, Denmark and Finland from the mid-1800s through to the late 1940s, and often beyond that, even to the 1960s, until the large and lucrative USA market, which operated on the English 925 Silver standard (92.5% Silver purity, Sterling Silver), virtually put an end in Europe to all non-925 Silver standards.
This Vintage Danish Silver ring could have been handcrafted in any one of the above-mentioned four North European countries; there is only the 830 mark, no other to indicate the country of provenance. However, the whole ring is an interesting creation, and even the 830 stamp itself is creativity at play, thus the proposed Denmark provenance is not unreasonable, for in the inter-War period and the late 1950s economic bloom, Danish silversmiths tended to be more playful in their creativity than their Scandanavian neighbours, and certainly more so than Germany.
The contrasting dark surround of the natural Rose Quartz gemstone was created by heavily oxidising the whole top of the ring before the setting of the gemstone, polishing back to Silver the outside rim, the tops of the eight granules, and the very top of the setting edge.
