1880s Victorian Design in 9ct Gold earrings, crafted in Sydney. The design was taken from an English Victorian link in a lady’s Silver Albertina bracelet that came into Christopher William’s hands a few years ago. The link was removed, a faithful replica created, the link replaced in the Albertina and sold on line. This is the second iteration of this classic design, the first being a pair of earrings crafted in Sydney in 18ct Gold, sold in 2023 from the Christopher William site.
This 1880s Victorian design is attractive for a couple of reasons: 1. it is so quintessentially “classical”, and would not surprise if seen in a book on the jewellery of the ancient Romans; 2. its form allows for some sort of size but with a minimal weight, a matter of no small consideration with the current Gold price, at end 2024, at such historic highs.
